Rankings of Disney Princesses

We all know Frozen, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and other famous Disney movies. Disney Princesses have been part of my life since I was a little kid and I still adore them. But while I have my favorites, there are also some princesses that I don't exactly like as much. So here is my personal ranking of Disney princesses, from the most underrated to most overrated.

1. Most Underrated: Mulan
Don't get me wrong, Mulan is a great film. And the film itself is highly appreciated. However, I don't think that the character herself doesn't get the recognition that she should. They argue that she "is" a Disney princess but isn't technically a "princess". Well, not really. This would make neither Kida from The Lost Atlantis nor Merida from Brave Disney Princesses. It's all just a difference of culture. Also, because most Disney princess films are targeted to young girls, the audience tends to like pretty, dainty girls like Cinderella or Aurora. Mulan deserves so much more for her bravery and standing up for herself unlike the other princesses.
You go, girl

2. Moderately Underrated: Pocahontas
Pretty similar to the reasons of Mulan. Not a princess, not pretty, not in a dainty, pretty, sparkly pink dress. Blah blah blah. Pocahontas is a great character with actual historical background. And of course "Colors of the Wind" is a great soundtrack.

3. Just a Teeny Tiny Bit Underrated: Jasmine
Jasmine is actually one of my favorites, the sassy bitch with her own distinct personality. The movie Aladdin isn't as loved as many other princess movies(of course it may differ) but Jasmine has a pretty distinct fanbase worked out and isn't as underrated as Pocahontas or Mulan.

4. She deserves the love: Belle
Belle is absolutely my favorite *classic* Disney princess(I have a hard time choosing between Belle and Rapunzel). And personally I believe she deserves every little part of love that she gets. She's a smart, sensible girl who doesn't go for looks. She wasn't searching for her "Prince Charming", but was merely trying to save her dad. If anyone tries to tell me that Belle is a overrated character, they can go (bleep) themselves. (Plus that beautiful singing voice)

5. Possibly Overrated...?: Ariel
She's pretty and has perfect hair, and also some pretty cool sidekicks. Her musical work is probably the greatest of all the Disney princess series(except for "Let it Go" I suppose). But she's just your normal princess. She even tries to give up her life and her voice just to get a chance with a guy she saw once. Pretty pathetic. But still, appreciate the movie.

6. Quite Overrated: Rapunzel
As I mentioned before, Rapunzel is one of my favorites. But I have to say she is quite overrated. Firstly, Tangled was the first Disney princess movie conducted with CGI. She gets a lot of recognition for that. See the jump between her and Tiana.
(sorry its a bit pixely)
And this is what Rapunzel would look like if she were born 2 years beforehand.
Yeah...No I don't see it.
Personally I think Rapunzel wouldn't be where she is now if it weren't for the technology jump.

7. The controversial character: Tiana
Tiana is a great character. But she is both overrated and underrated. Her fanbases argue that she is definitely underrated and underappreciated compared to what she did. She is the first African American princess, but besides from her race, she was also the first independent woman to have a dream and work towards that dream. But the movie "The Princess and the Frog" didn't exactly do so well in theaters. For that, she is underapprciated.
But again, Tiana is also at some times overappreciated. They stress too much on the fact of her race and her hard work and her "dreams" but when really she did end up marrying a prince like all the other princesses.

These rankings do not contain my own likings on the characters themselves. I like all of them, but there are some that I admit are rated for more than they should be, and some that don't get the appreciation they deserve. Still, Disney princesses are a part of every little kid's childhood and I hope will continue to be so.

Secrets about Disney World

Disney World. Most of the most beautiful, magical places on Earth.
Full of joy and excitement, fun, and...secrets?

It's so beautiful...(sniffle)
It is a truly "magical" place, with many secrets uncovered. There are many conspiracy theories about the place, some quite uncomfortable, but here are some secrets about the magical palace that aren't as dark and actually pretty cute.

1. There is a secret suite room inside Cinderella's Castle.
And it looks like this.:
There is a suite in Cinderella's Castle that can't be booked and you can only stay there if you win a contest.

Yeah. It's totally awesome. Too bad though, it can't be booked. If you want to stay in this room, you have to win a certain contest (which I'm not sure of)

2. The Seas Aquarium is the second largest in America.

The first largest is the Georgia Aquarium. The Seas aquarium with Nemo & Friends uses 5.7 million gallons of water a year.

3. Thousands of Mickey Mouses are hidden throughout the park.
For instance, this:

Or this:

Or even this:

There are tons of Hidden Mickeys around the ground. You can check out many others that are so well hidden that they are hard to find on this site.

4. Gum is banned on Disney World.

In order to block visitors from stepping on gum (which can really ruin your day, personal experience based,) or from getting gum on the rides, any selling of gum on the grounds is banned.

5. The lake that the Fantasmic action takes place is only 1FOOT DEEP.

Here's the lake, looking all deep and mysterious and scary.
But its only a foot deep. *mindblown* At least one wouldn't drown, though. (shrugs)

These were some secrets hidden about Disney World that I found interesting. If you're interested, you can find more about the topic yourself. There are also some creepy theories, or truths, as mentioned before, about Disney World, which you can check out in this video. I was scared for nights after watching this though, so brace yourself *shudders*.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Ugh. Now I want to visit Disney World. I hope I will have a chance to sometime soon.

"Big Hero 6" V.S. "Sunfire Big Hero 6"

Most of you have probably watched the most recent Disney film, Big Hero 6, by now. Released in 2014, Big Hero 6 is a comedy-superhero animated movie. It was one of my favorite Disney Movies up till now, and this is big, because I usually don't pick favorites, especially when it comes to Disney. The after-effect of the movie was so great that I spent several hours on the internet searching stuff about it after watching the movie. But there was one particular fact that caught my attention.

The story line of Big Hero 6 is based on a Marvel Comics going by the same title.
"Superfire Big Hero 6"
Big Hero 6 is not a Disney original story. Rather, it is almost completely based off of the Marvel Comic. The first issue of this comic was released in 1998, 16 years prior to the Disney animated film.

<Sunfire Big Hero 6> (1998)
The plot of Sunfire Big Hero 6 is similar yet different from that of the Disney film. In the original story, the 6 heroes are not mere "nerds" that met in college. They are each a quite significant character in the society and are "assembled" together, hence many other Marvel comics like the Avengers.
When the Japanese government requires the help of superhumans, they start to recruit a team. Honey Lemon is a secret agent that developed an amazing nano technology.
Gogo Tomago can control the use of fire by saying her own name.
Wasabi-no-Ginger and Fred also join the team.
Fred and Wasabi
The government tries to get 13 year old boy genius Hiro Takachiho to join the heroes. Hiro refuses, until his mother is kidnapped by the Everwraith, one of the largest enemies in Japan. When agreeing to join the team, Hiro creates his bodyguard, Baymax, who is capable of turning into a dragon when needed. Baymax's data is created from the brain cells of his dead father.
Baymax and Hiro

The comics continue in several series of the heroes rescuing Japan from danger. In the end, Spiderman and the Big Hero 6 collaborate to defeat the evil Doctor Octopus.

<Big Hero 6> (2014)
The story of Disney's Big Hero 6 is based in San Fransokyo, which you can probably guess is a fusion of San Francisco and Tokyo. (The landscapes are truly amazing, such as this representation of the Golden Gate Bridge with a *touch* of Tokyo.)
A Tour of 'San Fransokyo,' the Hybrid City Disney Built for Big Hero 6

The main character, Hiro Hamada, participates in illegal botfights to earn money. His "nerd" brother Tadashi tries to right his ways by convincing him to get into his "nerd school". Hiro presents "microbots" as his project to get into the school. Although accepted by the great robot scientist Robert Callaghan, Hiro looses both his loving brother and professor Callaghan on the night of his presentation.
*sobs uncontrollably*
The only thing that Hiro has to remember his brother by is Baymax, a personal health care robot. Baymax and Hiro discover his microbots have been stolen. With the help of their friends Honey Lemon, Gogo, Wasabi and Fred, they find the microbots and try to find the person behind the deaths of Tadashi and Callaghan, only to find out that the responsible one is....

Callaghan? *SPOILER*
...Yep

After Callaghan is exposed, Hiro and his friends seek to bring Callaghan down. They find out that Callaghan was doing it out of revenge for his lost daughter. In the end Hiro and Baymax save his daughter but Baymax is left behind. Fortunately, Hiro has Baymax's memory chip and is able to rebuild his best friend.

<Conclusion>

I personally enjoyed the Disney version more than the Marvel one. Although I have never seen the comics, the storyline or the drawing techniques don't seem as catchy as those in the animated film. In addition, I always love the cute features that Disney manages to sneak in into every movie, for instance in Big Hero 6, Baymax's "hairy- baby" or "Balalalala" fist bump.
"Balalala"
Big Hero 6 was a great movie and I think that it did a great job in adapting the original comic series. Any of you who didn't watch it, sorry for the spoilers, but really, do try it once. I guarantee you'll love it.

Disney Easter Eggs

Easter is coming closer. In fact, its two days away.
So this week's posts will be about the hidden "Easter Eggs" in Disney movies.
So first off, what is an Easter Egg?

An Easter Egg, as defined by Wikipedia, is "an intentional inside joke, hidden message, or feature in a work such as a computer program, video game, movie, book or crossword puzzle". It's name originates, as you have guessed, from the Easter Egg hunt.

Disney and other animation studios such as Pixar are well known for hiding Easter Eggs in their movies. Here are some that I found particularly interesting.

1. Big Hero 6
Let's start with the most recent Disney movie, Big Hero 6. Big Hero 6 contains many references to its predecessor, Frozen. For example, Disney seems to have a bone to pick with Hans.
undefined
Hans is still a wanted man, not only in Arundelle, but also in San Fransokyo, apparently.
This is not the only reference. Another Hans is seen in the movie. Check out this GIF.
undefined
Baymax showing off his amazing fighting skills, or something else?
The statue being destroyed by Baymax's fist is, yes you guessed it, Hans.
***undefined***

2. Tarzan
This is in one of the theories I introduced before, but there are a few Beauty and the Beast references. Here in this screenshot you can see Mrs. Potts and Chip.
undefined
This extends to the Belle-Jane Theory. Basically it says that Jane is one of Belle's Great-great-great-great-great-.....grandchildren, and the pots and teacups were some antiques that Belle left for her family. I'm pretty sure that teacup and teapot are the two characters in Beauty and the Beast, because if you check out the teacup in the picture, it has a crack in it, hence the name, "Chip".
Hi there
3. Tangled
This remake of Rapunzel contains tons of Easter Eggs of other Disney movies. First things start in Rapunzel's room. The room is full of other fairytales, quite literally. Rapunzel has a whole bunch of books of the stories.
undefined
This particular book is the exact same page as seen in a scene of "Sleeping Beauty". This is also quite funny because Rapunzel and Aurora actually have a bit in common; they're both locked away in a tower until they meet their Prince Charming.
undefined
If you actually take the time and effort to look into the movie, take a screenshot of it, and read all the incredibly small text to read the titles of the books in this scene(I didn't do that, TBH.), you can see that the books have titles like The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and Mulan.

Another Easter Egg in this movie is Rapunzel's taste in furniture. Rapunzel seems to have the same wardrobe as Belle did.
undefined

4. The Pizza Planet Truck
The Pizza Planet Truck appears in every Disney-Pixar movie. This first appeared in the Toy Story movie, as the truck that takes Buzz and Woody away from their beloved Andy. It makes appearances in A Bug's Life, Monster's Inc, Monster's University(because monsters obviously love Pizza, too.), Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Cars 1 and Cars 2, Up, Wall E, and even Brave.
undefined
I mention Brave because Merida probably lived in a time before trucks, or probably even pizza, was invented. Disney still found a way to hide their way inside.

5. Frozen
This particular Frozen easter egg doesn't contain any stuff from other Disney movies, but this is one pretty funny "behind the scenes". If you've watched Frozen, you probably remember this scene:

Yep, the startling claim by Kristoff that "All men pick their noses and eats it".
Well, those who loved Frozen enough to watch to the end of the ending credits would have found this: A disclaimer by Disney.
THANK GOD

I hope you had fun reading about these Easter Eggs. There are a lot more that I would introduce had I had more time. I just thought this would be appropriate for the upcoming holiday. So...um Happy Easter everyone!

Is Disney Sexist?

Disney is the animation studio loved by children all around the world. It seems it would be right that as such a widespread media, they should set the example to their young audience. It's surprising, though, that Disney is actually pretty sexist.

It seems Emma would be pretty mad
The female characters in many of the Disney movies are pretty generalized.
They are dependent upon the lead male characters. Most of the time this is when the girls are princesses or royalty waiting for their "Prince Charming". Here are some examples:

BASICALLY ALL THE OLD PRINCESSES
1. Snow White: Snow White waits until her Prince Charming saves her from the poisoned apple. The only thing that saves her in the end is basically her good looks.

2. Aurora(a.k.a Sleeping Beauty) is cursed because another woman despises her and again, has to wait for her "true love's kiss".

3. Cinderella is another "girly" character, waiting for her life to become better, waiting for the Prince to fall in love with her and save her from her miserable life. The Prince doesn't fall for her because of her hard working-ness or her kind nature, hell no. She's just pretty.
Yet her dream comes true because...fairytales.
4. Ariel : TBH, Ariel is the worst of the lot. She risks her life and changes her physical appearance just to get the attention of a man SHE JUST SAW FOR A FEW SECONDS. How stupid can she get? The original story is even worse; she changes her appearance, and then when the guy doesn't love her back, she just decides to die. Stupid, much?

5. Belle : Belle is somewhat better off than the rest of the lot, but not much. She saves the guy, but still, the only reason the Beast like her is because she's pretty. Also, Gaston, the antagonist of the story only wants to marry Belle because "she's the prettiest girl in town". (Though in this vhis little girl shows the sexist Gaston a piece of her mind. KUDOS!)
Come on, Disney, all your stories are pretty stupid. Why don't you have a princess fall in love with an orphan guy? Oh wait, that's Aladdin. Ok, let's talk about that movie.

6. Jasmine(Aladdine) : The first attempt that Disney ever made to make the female royalty and the guy not a prince. Jasmine, seems headstrong and not your normal "Disney Princess", right? Well, no. Jasmine is REQUIRED to marry someone of "her royal status" because of her family rules, even if she doesn't like them. Then, of course Aladdin turns up as the hero and saves her at the end.

Ok, so this isn't entirely Disney's fault. The stories are usually not original, and the original stories were written when it was still acceptable to make the women dependent of their men, when the women's place was in the kitchen. So we can't blame Disney for trying to go along with the story. In fact, they actually made some attempts to get rid of the issue.

For example, in Frozen, the sisters show that princesses don't need a prince to solve their problems. (Although I can't give Anna credit for falling in love with "someone she just met")
Yeh....No.

So... Is Disney sexist? Yes and no. Yes, the movies show it but it's because that's how fairytales are. And as they are showing effort to fix the problem, we'll forgive them, yes? (We still love you Disney)

Facts About “Monster’s Inc.” That You Didn’t Know

“Monster’s Inc”(2001) is technically not a Disney movie, in case some of you Disney geeks ask. It was animated by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Recently releasing the sequel “Monster’s University” in 2013, the movie is a well known family movie still loved worldwide. Here are some secrets you may have not known about the film

1.      Boo was originally designed to be a 6 year old girl.
Boo, the little girl and one of the main characters of the film, is a toddler in the actual film. She can only say basic words and childish blabber. The only actual words she say are “Boo!”(Which is why Sulley calls her that), “Kitty” and “Mike Wazowski”. Of course she also has this adorable humming of the tune “Beauty and the Beast”
"Sand-fly, Sandy cake, Sailing in cake..."

But the truth is that Boo wasn’t originally supposed to be a toddler. The character was supposed to be a 6 year old girl totally capable of talking, but the directors changed their mind, deciding that setting her as a toddler would increase her dependency on Sulley.
Also, Boo’s real name is Mary.(I bet you didn’t know that.)

2.      The ideas for 4 different Pixar movies were made on the same day.
During a lunch meeting in 1994, ideas were made for 4 different movies. These included “Monster’s Inc”, “Finding Nemo”, “A Bug’s Life”, and “Wall-E”. It is pretty surprising that while some of these were produced early, others like Wall-E were produced much later, in 2008.

3.      Mike Wazowski was not an original character.
Sorry to break it to you this way Mike
In the original script, Mike was not included. In addition, Sulley was a janitor working at Monster’s Inc, and not a scarer. The producers actually seemed to stick to this original idea and elaborated in the sequel “Monster’s University” where both Mike and Sulley start out as janitors and work their way up.

4.      Sulley has more than 2.3 million hairs on his body.
The exact number is 2,320,413. Ever single strand of hair had to be animated and thus it took a LOT of time to animate the character of Sulley. It apparently took more than 12 hours to animate a single frame of Sulley. WOW. You can check out this video for the original “basic” animation of Sulley. The difference of with and without hair is actually huge. S/O to the producers for their effort.
Hi Sulley!

 5.      Lastly…
This was the last Pixar film to have blooper reel during the end-credits.
HEY IT'S REX!
Monster’s Inc was the last Pixar Movie to include a blooper “behind the scenes” during end credits. This is one of the sad facts. I really liked the bloopers personally. For example, Toy Story would stop in the middle of the end credits to show a “hidden scene” of the “actors” of the movies. It would show another side of the animation and would always be fun to check out. I still haven’t gave up and wait until the end credits of Disney-Pixar movies, hoping for the bloopers. Never showed up again yet, though.

P.S for all you Disney geeks out there:
Frozen Fever(the short sequel of Frozen) was released today!! It's included exclusively in the beginning of the new Cinderella movie. Being the Disney geek I am, I wanted to go see the movie today on its release date but failed to. I'm a failure :(:(:(
I FAIL IN FANGIRLING
You should go see it too when you get the chance! The trailer was totally awesome, Elsa was still amazingly pretty, Anna amazingly cute, Olaf still with his personal flurry, and Christoff was still the absolute darling he is:) (Although if I had it my way I would have Hans in it. Admit it, he IS a bad guy, but he's waaaaayyyyyy HOT) AND THERE'S A NEW SOUNDTRACK!!! ANYONE EXCITED?
YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS
